Alpaka is the sixth studio album by the German hip-hop group 257ers . It is their second album that they released as a duo and was released on May 3, 2019 on the Düsseldorf label Selfmade Records as a standard and deluxe edition, including the bonus EP Gnu .
production
The music producer Alexis Troy acted as executive producer on the album and produced ten of the 13 songs of the standard edition, whereby he was assisted on two songs by Tai Jason and on one track by Udo Niebergall . The remaining three tracks were produced by Voddi 257 and Tilia, who also produced the beats for the bonus EP Gnu .
Guest Posts
In addition to the 257ers, other artists appear on only two songs on the regular album. The song Akk & Feel It is a collaboration with the Eurodance band Captain Jack , while the Hamburg band Le Fly can be heard on Regenbogenland . The rap duo Mehnersmoos is featured on the bonus EP on the song Nie mehr , and the former 257ers member Keule has a guest appearance on the hidden track Wie’s hier ist .
Cover design
The album cover shows a brightly colored, cartoon-like picture of an orange alpaca , which opens its mouth wide and is apparently drugged. At the top right of the picture is the orange lettering 257ers and at the bottom left the title Alpaka in yellow and pink letters.

Dominik Lippe from laut.de rated alpaca with three out of a possible five points. The album does not deliver the “really big hits à la Holland and Holz ” like its predecessor Mikrokosmos , but the 257ers would still stand out from the German rap scene with their “humorous, over-the-top approach”. By mixing "Eurodance, reggae vibes and synth beats with lively round dance, vocoder hooks and Captain Jack", Alpaka "above all is unlimited freedom."
Michael Collins of MZEE wrote that the album was “full of absurd to Dadaist lyrics, some of which are damn funny, as well as electronic beats with influences from other musical genres.” It was “not an album that will be groundbreaking for German rap. However, it is ideally suited to accompany one or the other funny evening. "
