The old castle is the ruin of a small hilltop castle at 195 m above sea level. NN in a meadow above the Harrbach district of the city of Gemünden am Main in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria .
Around 1100 the castle was built by the Lords of Harrburg, who were presumably the employers of the Lords of Homburg ( Gössenheim ).
In 1469 the diocese of Würzburg under Prince-Bishop Rudolf von Scherenberg acquired the village of Harrbach and the castle, which was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525 .
Around 1900 the castle was demolished as a quarry down to the foundation walls and today, after excavations, it still shows foundation walls, the entrance area of the gate building and the castle moat .
