The Alte Weser is a sea sign ship of the waterways and shipping administration of the federal government .

history

The ship, which was ordered by the specialist unit for mechanical engineering north on September 22, 2006 after a Europe-wide tender at the Fassmer shipyard in Berne / Motzen, was built in 2008 under construction number 3000. The keel was laid on February 27th, the launch on October 15th, 2008. The ship , christened on November 6, was completed on December 10, 2008.

The EUR 5.9 million ship was financed from the budget of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development . It replaces the Solthörn built in 1967 and the Geestemünde built in 1982 . While the Solthörn was decommissioned, the Geestemünde was used as a pilot transfer boat for Lotsbetriebsverein e. V. continues to be used. The ship is named after the lighthouse of the same name .

The ship is from the waterway and shipping office Bremerhaven for the entertainment and supply of light -, leading lights and - radar towers in the outer Weser and in the German Bight used as well as for supply and disposal trips, transporting people and materials and monitoring tasks.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines made by Cummins (type: QSK19-M), each with an output of 559  kW . The motors act on two Voith-Schneider propellers via gears . The ship reaches a speed of 14  knots .

In the bow of the ship there is a cross- jet control system designed as a water jet drive with an output of 135 kW.

The ship has ice class "E".
