Altmühlmünster is one of 44 officially named districts of the Lower Bavarian city ​​of Riedenburg .

The church village is about five and a half kilometers west-northwest of the center of Riedenburg and is at an altitude of 367  m above sea level. NHN .

history

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the village became an independent rural community, which also included the hamlet of Laubfeld (Laubhof) and the three wastelands Ambergerhof , Eggmühl and Mühlthal . In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the municipality of Altmühlmünster was initially included in the municipality of Meihern on April 1, 1971 , with Martlhof and Mühlthal later being reunited to the then still independent municipality of Zell . In the further course of the regional reform, Altmühlmünster was then incorporated into the town of Riedenburg on January 1, 1978 together with the municipality of Meihern. In 1987 Altmühlmünster had 74 inhabitants.

The connection to the public road network is made by a communal road that branches off about 800 meters northeast of the town from the KEH 2 district road. Access to the Federal Motorway 9 is possible at the Denkendorf junction about 13 kilometers west-southwest of the village .

Attractions

In Altmühlmünster there are five architectural monuments, the parsonage, two farmhouses, a small residential building and, as the most important building, the former Johanniter Commandery Church of St. Johannes Baptist of the Altmühlmünster monastery .
