Eventually she found the Hartlepoor Catholic Amateur Boxing Club , where she could start training with Paul Allen. In 1999 she played her first fight in Hartlepoor. Since there were almost no opponents in England, she went to Sweden for two years and became a member of Angered BC . In 2004 she was the first English champion in the weight class up to 60 kg body weight. This championship was followed by three more English championship titles. This year she also took part in international championships and tournaments for the first time. In 2004 she started at the Witch Cup in Budapest and at the European Women's Championship in Riccione / Italy . The ranking of both events is not known, but both times it did not make it into the medal ranks.

In 2005, Amanda Coulson defeated in a three-international match England against France and Italy Amelie Blary and Elisa Masiero each on points. At the European Championships in 2005 in Tønsberg , she started in the weight class up to 63 kg, but lost there in the quarterfinals against Larissa Pop from Romania on points (24:32) and took 5th place. At the European Championships in Warsaw in 2006 , she finished 5th in the same weight class again because she lost in the quarterfinals against Julia Nemtsova from Russia on points (8:22).

In March 2007 Amanda Coulson had to accept a demolition defeat in the 2nd round in an international match England against Canada against the reigning world champion in the lightweight Katie Taylor in Waterford . Two months later she had a great success at the Ahmet Comert tournament in Istanbul , because she won this tournament in the 63 kg class and defeated u. a. Katie Dunn from Canada, the Russian champion Wera Slugina and Kinga Siwa from Poland . At the European Championships 2007 in Vejle / Denmark, however, she missed a medal again with 5th place. At the EU championship in Liverpool in 2008 she defeated Lotte Lien from Norway in the weight class up to 66 kg body weight on points (7: 3), but lost again in the final against Farida al-Hadrati (10:13). In 2008 she started at the World Championships in Ningbo / People's Republic of China in the weight class up to 66 kg body weight. But there she lost in her first fight against the world champion Mary Spencer from Canada and therefore only came in 9th place.

In 2009 Amanda Coulson took a break from international competitions. At the English championships in 2009 she suffered a defeat for the first time in the half-welter weight class. She lost in the semifinals against Natasha Jonas on points (8:11) and therefore took 3rd place. In 2010 she had a great success at the Minoan Cup in Heraklion / Greece in the lightweight class (up to 60 kg body weight), because she won this tournament with three wins. In the final battle she won against Julia Irmen-Göldner from Germany on points (14: 5). At the 2010 World Cup in Bridgeport / Barbados , however, she experienced a great disappointment, because she lost her first preliminary round match against Marzuna Khorayeva from Tajikistan on points ( 5-8 ) and ended up in 33rd place.
