Ambrose Mathalaimuthu
Ambrose Mathalaimuthu (born July 20, 1925 in Nagaur , Rajasthan , India , † November 15, 2009 ) was Bishop of Coimbatore .
Life
Ambrose Mathalaimuthu was ordained a priest on December 21, 1951 .
Pope Paul VI appointed him bishop of the diocese of Tuticorin in 1971 . He was ordained episcopal on December 9th of the same year by the Archbishop of Madurai , Justin Diraviam ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Tiruchirapalli , Thomas Fernando and the Archbishop of Bangalore , Packiam Arokiaswamy . His motto was: In Brotherly Love ("In brotherly love").
In 1979 he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Coimbatore by Pope John Paul II . In 2002, his age-related resignation was granted.
