Amore XL is the thirteenth studio album by the Austrian band Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung . It was released on October 12, 2007 in a standard and a deluxe edition and was the band's first studio album in four years.

prehistory

On November 24, 2006, Klaus Eberhartinger and Kurt Keinrath announced that work on a new album had started and forty demo versions had already been handed over to Sony BMG , ten of which Thomas Spitzer had completely rewritten. At that time it was planned to appear in early 2007. In March 2007, the title Amore XL was announced, but at that time it was not yet final. It was also foreseeable that the publication date would be postponed to autumn 2007, which should also have contributed to a lack of time due to Eberhartinger's participation in the television show Dancing Stars . In May Spitzer announced that the music would be played by his own band and not by computers. On August 1st a tour belonging to the album was announced, on August 17th the release on October 12th under the hitherto working title Amore XL was announced as definitive. At the same time, the cover, which the fans had chosen from four pictures drawn by Spitzer, was confirmed. At the beginning of September the simultaneous release of a deluxe edition with two additional songs was announced. The cover shows the motif of the standard edition as a wobbly image. On October 10, the album was certified platinum for 20,000 copies sold before it was released. From October 26th, Amore XL was number one in the Austrian charts for a week . It was ranked 46th in Germany and 83rd in Switzerland.

On September 26, 2008, around a year after the release of Amore XL, the new edition Amore XXL was released, which includes several live recordings of the Amore XL tour.

The album consists of songs that deal with the theme of love. In addition to the romantic love often sung about in popular music, various types are presented. So it's about zoophilia (little cattle) , schadenfreude (Mei glorious) , inheritance stealth (100 years old grandma) and operations out of beauty madness (Schnippel Schnipp) . Clear political messages are also included, for example against sexism (including circumcision of female genitals ) (Panga Panga) and discrimination against homosexuality (Then & When) .

Thomas Spitzer said about the album: "I admit:" Amore XL "sounds a bit sappy. But the whole thing is put into perspective if you look at our view of the topic with sodomy, sado-maso madness and same-sex love. With "Amore XL" we show all conceivable facets that have to do with love. " Before the release, he also said that " Amore XL "should be the EAV's rockiest album.

Front singer Klaus Eberhartinger said: “There are quite a few serious numbers on it. We like it. We are very excited to see the reactions of the fans. "

The Amore XL tour was announced in August 2007 and was already planned for early 2008. After the previous best-of tour 100 years of EAV was the most successful tour for over fifteen years, it was decided to also perform old songs on the Amore XL tour . Hits like Prince Charming , Kiss the Hand, Beautiful Woman and Sandler King Eberhard could be easily integrated. On December 15, 2007, more than fifty concert dates had already been set in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and more were being planned. On January 30th, 2008 the first concert was given in Feldbach . As usual with the EAV, the songs were connected to one another by a stage show. In addition to the moderation, shadow games were also presented.
