Spitalo Fatalo is the third music album by the Austrian rock band Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung , released in 1983 .

background

The album, released in 1983, was the first in the 'classic' line-up (and especially with Klaus Eberhartinger as singer), in which the group stayed until the early 1990s. The album is humorous and snappy and targets current topics, such as the no-future generation ( dance, dance, dance ), revolutionaries who have grown old and lazy ( Proud Falcon ) or mass tourism ( Africa ). Musically, too, the album had current echoes of the Neue Deutsche Welle ( dance, dance, dance ) and even rap ( alpine rap ).

As usual, the album cover is by Thomas Spitzer, keyboardist Nino Holm can be seen.

The lyrics came from Thomas Spitzer, the music from the group, with the exception of Es wird Heller (text by STS band member Schiffkowitz , Musik Schiffkowitz / Millner), which was performed by Eik Breit as a parody in the style of André Heller . I lifted the feeling was sung by Günter Timischl , Total insecure by Gert Steinbäcker (both also STS), the other titles were sung by Eberhartinger ( dance, dance, dance , Balkan boogie , Africa , alpine rap ) and Bottazzi ( Hallo Hallo , Sofa , Proud Falcon , Spitalo Finalo ) sung.

The title Alpenrap is musically based on Rapper's Delight from the Sugarhill Gang, and lyrically ("Seppl's Delight") tribute is paid to this song. The last stanza of Es wird Heller is a quote from Peter Altenberg , with which André Heller often ended his concerts: "God thinks in geniuses, he dreams in poets and he sleeps in other people."

Three singles were released from the album, dance, dance, dance , alpine rap and Africa . With the latter two, the EAV achieved their first chart successes in Austria, each in sixth place. Africa was boycotted by radio stations in Germany due to allegedly racist phrases.

While the long version of Spitalo Fanfaro (duration 1:18) can still be heard on the first pressing of the LP from 1983 , you only hear the shortened version (duration 1:01) on re-releases on LP and CD, which can be recognized by that it is faded out. The reason for this is not known.

In addition, a TV show was produced for ORF, which was broadcast as part of the youth program “Okay” (moderated by Vera Russwurm).
