The office is located in the northeast of the Uckermark district and in the far northeast of Brandenburg . It borders on the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

Municipalities and districts

  • Brüssow (city) with the districts of Bagemühl, Battin, Butterholz, Frauenhagen, Grimme, Grünberg, Hammelstall, Klausthal, Menkin, Moor, Petersruh, Stramehl, Trampe, Woddow and Wollschow
  • Carmzow-Wallmow with the districts Carmzow, Cremzow, Hedwigshof, Wallmow and Wendtshof

  • Schenkenberg with the districts Baumgarten, Dauerthal, Kleptow, Ludwigsburg and Wittenhof (from November 1, 2001 from the Prenzlau-Land office )

history

On August 21, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg gave his consent to the formation of the Brüssow office with its seat in the city of Brüssow. August 1, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. At the time it was founded, the office comprised nine municipalities in what was then the Prenzlau district (now the Uckermark district):

  1. Carmzow
  2. Ludwigsburg
  3. Schönfeld
  4. Wallmow
  5. Woddow
  6. Wollschow
  7. Grünberg
  8. Bagemühl
  9. City of Brüssow

On November 1, 2001, the municipalities of Göritz and Schenkenberg moved from the Prenzlau-Land office to the Brüssow office. On December 31, 2001, Bagemühl, Grünberg, Woddow and Wollschow were incorporated into the city of Brüssow. Also on December 31, 2001, Carmzow and Wallmow merged to form the municipality of Carmzow-Wallmow, and at the same time Ludwigsburg was also incorporated into the municipality of Schenkenberg.

Population development

Even when it was founded, the Brüssow office failed to meet the benchmark of 5,000 inhabitants for an office, as specified by the state of Brandenburg in the official regulations. With the change of the municipalities of Schenkenberg and Göritz from the dissolved Prenzlau-Land office to the Brüssow office, this benchmark was again exceeded significantly. Since 2008, however, the office's population has fallen below the 5,000 mark again. The trend continues to decline. The decline in population has serious financial consequences for the office and the municipalities belonging to the office, because the key allocations of the state of Brandenburg are based on the number of inhabitants.

annotation

  1. The summary population figures for the office of Brüssow (p. 12/3) given in the historical municipality register for the years 1992 to 2000 are objectively incorrect, as can be seen from the simple addition of the population figures of the individual municipalities belonging to the office. Apparently the population figures of Göritz and Schenkenberg were simply added, although these communities did not join the Brüssow office until 2001. Therefore, the population figures of the office Brüssow have been corrected according to the actual population figures of the municipalities belonging to the office from 1992 to 2001.
