District court Dillingen an der Donau
The District Court of Dillingen ad Donau is one of 73 district courts in Bavaria and a court of ordinary jurisdiction . The head office is at St.-Ulrichs-Platz 3 in Dillingen an der Donau .
history
On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, a district court was established in Dillingen, the district of which corresponded to that of the previous regional court district of the older order .
The main seat of the district court, built by the Jesuits in 1735, measured 41 meters in length, 12 meters in width and was 10 meters high. It stretched over three floors. In 1865/66 the building was expanded on the south side. The current shape of the building goes back to a construction project in 1957/58. The room layout and facade are partly still in their original condition. Between 1862 and 1990 the building was used as an episcopal boys' seminary . After 1990, the building functioned as a retirement and nursing home as well as a kindergarten and accommodation for a group of difficult-to-educate young people.
The district court of Dillingen was housed together with the tax office in Dillingen Castle on the Danube . In June 2001, the southeast wing of the palace had to be cleared due to poor security standards and the district court had to be moved to the former boys' college. In 2003 the premises were inaugurated after extensive construction work.
Today the building is a listed building .
