Ana Catarina Marques Borges (born June 15, 1990 in Gouveia ) is a Portuguese national soccer player . She has played for Sporting CP since 2017 and won the double with the club in 2016/17 and 2017/18 , which she had previously won with Chelsea in the 2015 season.

Career

society

Borges was trained at the Fundação Laura Santos . This was followed by positions in Spain at Prainsa Zaragoza and Atlético Madrid and the USA at Santa Clarita Blue Heat . From 2013 to 2016 she played for the Chelsea Ladies and was able to win the double with them in 2015, the first title for the Chelsea Ladies. With the English, she took part in the 2015/16 UEFA Women's Champions League , where she lost both games to VfL Wolfsburg in the round of 16 . 2016/17 was already over against the Wolves in the round of 32. She returned to her home country for the 2017 season and is now playing for Sporting CP . With her, Sporting became champions and cup winners for the first time, a success that was repeated the following year. However , Sporting failed to qualify for the 2017/18 UEFA Women's Champions League at a tournament in Budapest against Kazakhstan's BIIK Kazygurt . Even 2018/19 they did not survive the qualification. At a tournament in Croatia they lost their first game against Avaldsnes IL with 2: 3, where they scored their first CL goal. They were able to win the other two games, but since the Norwegians also defeated the other two opponents, Sporting was eliminated. In the 2018/19 season it was only enough for the runner-up behind Sporting Braga, which then survived the qualification in the 2019/20 .

National team

At the end of September / beginning of October 2006 she took part with the U-19 team in the first qualifying round for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2007 . The Portuguese could not win a game, but with two draws they became one of the best thirds in the group and qualified for the second round in April 2007. In this, a 3: 3 against the Dutch women with defeats against France and Ireland was not enough to reach the final tournament. At the end of September / beginning of October 2007 they made a new attempt and had a home advantage. They were able to use this to a 4-0 victory in the first game against Greece, to which they contributed the last goal. Although they lost the following two games against Romania and Iceland, due to the better goal difference they were second in the group but qualified for the second round. In April 2008 they had home rights again, but lost significantly against Italy and Norway and could only get a point against Ukraine with a 2-2 draw. In the first round of qualifying for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2009 , they again had a home advantage. With one win, one draw and one defeat, they reached the second round in April 2009 and had home rights in this too. With just one win against Wales after narrow defeats against Azerbaijan and France, they again missed the finals. With these games her time as a U-national came to an end

Already in March 2009 she played her first international match at the Algarve Cup against Poland and had equalized in the 2-1 win with her first international goal. In the second game against Wales , she was able to contribute a goal to the 2-1 victory. After a 1-0 win against Austria , they were group C winners in the game for 7th place against Finland , which was lost after a 1-1 with 2-4 on penalties , but in which she was not one of the Portuguese shooters.

In the qualification for the 2011 World Cup , which started in September 2009 , it was used in all eight games. The Portuguese were able to win four games, but since the other four games were lost, it was only enough for third place in the qualifying group. She scored one goal each in the 4-0 win against Slovenia and the 1-3 win against Italy .

As a regular player in the national team, she then took part in the qualifications for the following European and World Championships, but was only able to qualify for a final round with her team in 2016.

She was also part of the Portuguese squad for the 2017 European Championship and was used in the three group matches after which Portugal were eliminated.

In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she made seven appearances and played her 100th international match on November 24, 2017 in an 8-0 win against the Republic of Moldova . The Portuguese failed but to Italy and Belgium , which could not qualify either.
