Anatoly Anatolijowytsch Scharij ( Ukrainian Анатолій Анатолійович Шарій , scientific. Transliteration Anatoly Anatolijovyč Šarij , * 20th August 1978 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian journalist , Webvideoproduzent , Vlogger and operators of the news portal Sharij.net and a YouTube duct work with unknown whereabouts.

Life

Anatolij Scharij was born and raised in Kiev. In his youth he suffered from pathological gambling for several years . A relationship helped him end his addiction. Shariy studied at the Kiev Higher Tank Engineering School and graduated with success.

Journalistic activity

Anatolij Scharij began his journalistic activity in early 2005. He worked as a writer for various magazines in Russia and Ukraine, including Sevodnja and the Moskovsky Komsomolets .

At the end of 2006 he wrote a last article for the Russian women's magazine MyJane , in which he discussed the use of children as “professional beggars” in Kiev: Since 2009, Shariy has only worked with Internet newspapers .

In October of the same year he published an article in the Ukrainian internet magazine From-UA . In this he suspected the Odessa children's home "Schemchushinka" (Жемчужинка, Eng. "Perlchen") to offer orphans as child prostitutes . He justified his suspicions, among other things, with the fact that there were only 23 children in the disproportionately large building, who were looked after by twice as many home workers. In addition, expensive cars regularly appeared at night in front of the house, which was equipped with video cameras and security guards, and only left in the morning. A previously healthy 4-year-old boy was admitted to the psychiatric department of the local hospital after a week in the home. In another case, a woman wanted to adopt a 5-year-old girl from the children's home. While playing with the child, the latter tried to kiss the woman with tongue. In 2007, the chairwoman of the “Society for Equal Opportunities”, Svetlana Djachenko, and the deputy of the “ Strong Ukraine ” in the Verkhovna Rada , Mikhail Sirota, demanded a medical-psychological examination of the children in the “Shemchushinka”. The children's home refused on the grounds that such an examination would cause trauma to the children. Immediately after the domestic secret service SBU took on the case, the children's home's visitor list disappeared. The SBU employees then informed Anatoly Scharij that the story was very “dark and unpleasant”, but that “nothing could be done”. In 2008, the politician Mikhail Sirota, who had testified that rape committed in the "Shemchushinka" was covered by law enforcement agencies, was killed in a car accident.

In the summer of 2010, the manager of the “K” charity fund, Oksana Dogan, who had the children's home built, reported Sharij for defamation. On August 4, 2010, the journalist published an article in which he denied having made false statements. On April 15, 2010, he received a call from a landline phone in Odessa. In this, an unknown man “advised” him to pay for his claims, otherwise his head would be “cut off”. On the same day, Sharij turned to the SBU about this, but they did not respond to the threat. On September 19, 2010, Anatolij Scharij was found guilty by a court and obliged to pay compensation of 1,000 hryvnia to the orphanage "Shemchushinka".

Until the beginning of 2012 he was the head of the "Investigation" department of the Ukrainian Internet magazine Obosrewatel ( Eng . "The Columnist"). Afterwards, according to his own statements, he fled the repression of the government under Viktor Yanukovych from Ukraine and applied for asylum in the European Union . The alleged persecution was caused by criminal proceedings against him after Scharij shot a man with a rubber bullet at a McDonald’s branch. According to his own account, Sharij did so after the man attacked his wife. In addition, Sharij was on trial accusing him of deliberately providing false information about a crime and producing fabricated evidence. To date, the Shevchenkivsky District Court in Kiev has not granted the prosecutor's extradition request and canceled the search and arrest of video blogger Anatoly in absentia. .

After the Euromaidan

Since 2014 Sharij has positioned himself as a critic of the new Ukrainian government and the media. The Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior checked his refugee status in February 2015 because of the “public laughing at Ukraine and the Ukrainian army” and the singing of “Kremlin propaganda songs” . Sharij lives in the EU. His exact whereabouts are not known.

reception

In October 2016, the Russian journalist commented Vladimir Posner , by its commitment to the vision of the Soviet Union in the Cold War in the West was known to Anatoly Scharij. He said he had the right to be called a "journalist". Because unlike many others he would “call things by their name”: “He took the liberty (and as I understand, he continues to allow himself) to write and speak the truth about Ukraine.” This support contradicted other assessments, which Sharij had attested that "he calls himself a journalist".

Controversy

Sharij was a member of the organizing committee of the Love Against Homosexuality Movement . According to a publication by the Heinrich Böll Foundation , he declared in this function: "Should [the homosexuals] sit down and be happy that they haven't been killed yet". As the primary goal of love against homosexuality , he declared “so that homosexuals live in their homes and do not take to the streets, so that they do not appear in the media and not propagate their lifestyle. […] At the same time we demand criminal prosecution for the propagation of homosexuality ”.

Sharij caused a negative stir after he described residents of western Ukraine as second-class and mixed race in a video released on April 28, 2014. Among other things, he stated in it: "You are half damn Poles, half Hungarians". He went on to say that Western Ukrainians shouldn't tell the people of Kiev how to behave, how to love the country, how to love their flag: “Because it's not your flag. You don't have a flag. You are not Ukrainians ”.

The foundation against corruption of the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny declared Shariy was either an "anti-Ukrainian or a pro- Kremlin blogger". Sharij emphasizes, however, that he has not liked Vladimir Putin in recent years and that he does not call for him to be elected. He claimed the documentary For You He's Not a Dimon , in which allegations of corruption against Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev were not shot by the Foundation against Corruption, but by people who “speak badly in Russian but work professionally for it”. Sharij declared that the Russian leadership was obliged to respond to the allegations from the film, but at the same time justified the arrest of demonstrators who took to the streets because of the corruption scandal by saying that the security organs "should not wait until the first Molotov cocktails appear" .

Shariy was one of the people who denigrated Novaya Gazeta reporter Pavel Kanygin during a Russian propaganda campaign , or was the trigger for this campaign. The editor described Sharji as a (self-proclaimed) "media expert" in quotation marks and asked for an apology.

In July 2019, the Ukrainian military portal accused of spreading fake news . Accordingly, in several of his videos from 2014, Sharij depicted the separatists' weapons systems as the weapons systems of the Ukrainian army.

In July 2020, the Ukrainian journalist Serhiy Ivanov pointed out that Sharij had described the Sinti and Roma as “the dirt of this world” in a blog entry on November 6, 2010 about Italian immigration policy . In another blog entry from January 7, 2010, Scharij raised the question of whether Adolf Hitler was wrong in putting homosexuals and members of the Sinti and Roma in gas chambers and sterilizing them.
