Anderson Alves da Silva , often just Anderson (born January 10, 1983 in Rio de Janeiro ), is a Brazilian football player. The full-back won the 1999 World Cup with the Brazilian U-17 team and played in Brazil, Portugal, Australia and Cyprus over the course of his club career.
Club career
Anderson comes from the youth department of Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and joined the professional squad in 2001. After a stopover at Duque de Caxias FC , he moved to the Portuguese first division club União Leiria in 2005 , for which he only made three league appearances. The following season he spent a league level lower at the second division club CD Fátima before returning to Brazil in the summer of 2007 and initially joining Adap Galo Maringá .
In 2008 engagements at CA Bragantino , Rio Branco EC and Operário FC followed . In June 2009 he signed a three-month contract with the Australian club Gold Coast United to replace his long-term injured compatriot Jefferson . There the defensive specialist plays alongside his younger brother Robson , who is under contract with Gold Coast. After the end of the 2010/11 season, there was a great change at Gold Coast United and almost all regular players left the club, including Bruce Djite , Jason Culina , Bas van den Brink , Dino Djulbic , Steve Pantelidis and Shane Smeltz . Anderson also ended his stay on the Gold Coast after 45 appearances in regular season games and four games in the championship playoffs.
Anderson finally found a new club in May 2012 with the Cypriot first division side Enosis Neon Paralimni , where he is to succeed Belgian Matthias Trenson in the left-back position .
National team
Anderson played for Brazilian youth teams in the U-15, U-17 and U-20 age groups . He was most successful with the U-17, with whom he first won the U-17 South American Championship in 1999 (two-time goalscorer in the 5-0 final) and was elected to the team of the tournament. In November of the same year, Anderson was also in the Brazilian squad to win the U-17 World Cup in New Zealand. There he was part of the starting line-up in all six tournament games and won the title with the team with an 8-7 success on penalties against Australia.
Two years later he also won the South American Championship with the U-20 team and was then part of the Brazilian squad at the 2001 Junior World Cup in Argentina. When reaching the quarter-finals, he was used in two preliminary round games. Unlike his teammates at the time, Kaká , Luisão , Adriano , Maicon and Júlio Baptista , he did not make it into the senior national team.
