André Haber

André Haber (born July 5, 1986 in Meerane ) is a German handball coach . Since September 2018 he has been the head coach at SC DHfK Leipzig in the handball Bundesliga .

career

André Haber started playing handball at a school tournament at the age of ten and then played at SV Motor Meerane and SHC Meerane until he was a junior. In 2006 Haber went to Leipzig , where he studied sports science and became a trainer at an early age .

Club coach

From 2008 Haber worked as a trainer for the SC DHfK Leipzig . There he trained among other things the E-Juniors and in the handball academy Leipzig / Delitzsch the A-Youth and C-Youth, with whom he became Central German Champion in 2012. At the same time he played for the second team of the DHfK Leipzig / NHV Delitzsch syndicate in the Saxon Association League. In May 2012, Haber succeeded Sven Strübin as the new assistant coach of the first team in Leipzig in the 2nd Bundesliga . Under head coach Uwe Jungandreas , he was primarily responsible for the performance diagnostics of the players, video analyzes, helping to design training plans and supervising the competitive games in the 2012/13 season . After Jungandreas was fired, Haber was assistant coach for four games under Michael Biegler in May 2013 , who ensured relegation as an interim coach. Haber then became an interim coach himself and looked after the Leipzig team for the first time as head coach in the last two games of the season.

For the 2013/14 season , Haber took over the position of assistant coach again under the new head coach Christian Prokop . In 2015 both rose to the handball Bundesliga together with Leipzig . In parallel to his work as assistant coach of the professional team, Haber also worked as a youth coach, becoming German champion with the Leipzig A-Jugend in 2015 and 2016.

After Prokop became the new national handball coach in summer 2017, Haber took over the post of head coach for the 2017/18 season temporarily until December 2017, as Michael Biegler, who was appointed as the new head coach, worked as a German women's national coach until the end of 2017. In January 2018, Haber was again assistant coach under Biegler. In May 2018, the SC DHfK Leipzig announced that Haber would be head coach again from summer 2020 after Biegler's contract ended. Haber then took over the head coach from autumn 2018. First, he represented Biegler, who was ill, in September 2018. After his release, Haber officially became head coach of the Leipzig team from October 2018 and signed a contract in November 2018 until 2022.

National coach

In addition to his work as a club coach in Leipzig, Haber also became assistant coach of the male youth national team in spring 2016. At the beginning of 2018 he took over the position of junior national coach. With the U20 national team, he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Slovenia in summer 2018.
