Maximilian Janke (born February 28, 1993 in Pfaffenhofen) is a German handball player who plays in the Bundesliga at SC DHfK Leipzig .

Career

society

In his youth Janke played for TSV Dorfmark and MTV Soltau . In 2008 he moved to SC Magdeburg . From 2010 he was part of the squad of the second team, with whom he played in the third division since the 2011/12 season. In the 2013/14 season , the 1.96 meter tall backcourt player was part of the SCM Bundesliga squad, for which he scored two goals on October 9, 2013 in the home win over record champions THW Kiel . In January 2015 he moved to the then second division club SC DHfK Leipzig, with whom he signed a contract until 2017, which he later extended for another two years until 2019.

National team

At the European Handball Championship in 2018 he was appointed to the 28 squad by national coach Christian Prokop . At first he did not make it into the 20 squad that denied the preparation, but was invited to the course by the national coach due to the injury of his teammate Niclas Pieczkowski . On January 5, 2018, he made his debut in the 36:29 test match win against Iceland . He scored his first goal for the national team in the second international match, a friendly against Iceland. On January 7th, he was appointed to the final 16-man squad and will take part in the 2018 European Championship. On January 20, the national coach announced that he would nominate Rune Dahmke instead of Maximilian Janke for the further course of the European Handball Championship 2018. For the main round match against Spain , he was taken back to the 16-squad because Paul Drux tore a meniscus. He has completed 7 games so far in which he scored 1 goal.
