Paul Drux (born February 7, 1995 in Gummersbach ) is a German handball player .

Career

society

Paul Drux began playing handball at SSV Marienheide in 2000, from 2007 he played at VfL Gummersbach before moving to Füchsen Berlin in 2011 . With the A-youth team of the Berlin he won in 2012, 2013 and 2014, the A-Youth Championship . In the 2012/13 season, the 1.92 meter tall and 105 kg heavy backcourt player made his debut in the professional team of the Füchse, he made six appearances in the handball Bundesliga and three in the EHF Champions League . With the foxes he won in 2014 the DHB Cup and 2015 and 2018 the EHF Cup .

National team

Drux was part of the German youth team, for which he scored 87 goals in 31 international matches (as of September 25, 2013). With the national team he won the U-18 European Championship in 2012 and won the bronze medal at the U-19 World Championship in 2013 . On September 20, 2014, he made his debut in the men's national team in Göppingen in a friendly against Switzerland . In 2015 he was part of the squad at the World Cup in Qatar. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the bronze medal with the German team. For this he received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Gauck on November 1, 2016 . For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed by national coach Christian Prokop in the 20-man squad, who denies the preparation. On January 7th, he was appointed to the final 16-man squad and will take part in the 2018 European Championship. In the main round match against Denmark he injured his meniscus and traveled back to Berlin a day later to undergo an operation. At the handball world championship in Germany and Denmark in 2019 , he finished fourth with the DHB team. The game for third place was lost against the French 25:26. During the tournament he scored 21 goals. He has completed 91 international matches so far in which he scored 171 goals.

Private

Drux attended sports school in Berlin when he was 16. The professional athlete and business informatics student lives with his girlfriend in Berlin. In 2018 he founded a company that sells streetwear for athletes.
