Fabian Wiede (born February 8, 1994 in Belzig ) is a German handball player .

Career

society

Fabian Wiede started playing handball in 1999 with Marvin Sommer and Willy Weyhrauch at MBSV Belzig. From 2006 to 2009 he played for 1. VfL Potsdam before moving to Füchsen Berlin . With the Berliners he won the German B youth championship in 2010 and the A youth championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013 . In the 2012/13 season the 1.94 meter tall were back player his debut in the first team of foxes, since the 2013/14 season he is determined to Bundesliga team , with 2014 the DHB Cup and 2015 and 2018 the EHF European Cup won.

National team

Wiede belongs to the squad of the German junior national team, for which he has so far played 17 international matches, in which he scored 41 goals. The left-hander has played six times for the German B national team. After the national player Steffen Weinhold had to cancel his participation in a four-country tournament in January 2014 due to an injury, Wiede was appointed to the senior national team for the first time . On January 4, 2014, he made his debut against Russia. On January 31, 2016, Wiede and the German team became European champions. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the bronze medal with the national team. For this he was honored with the silver bay leaf on November 1st, 2016 . At the beginning of November 2016, Wiede suffered a serious shoulder injury and was therefore unable to participate in the 2017 World Handball Championship in France. For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed to the 20-man squad by national coach Christian Prokop , who did the preparation. He then did not make it into the squad that traveled to the EM. At the handball world championship in Germany and Denmark in 2019 , he finished fourth with the DHB team. The game for third place was lost against the French 25:26. During the tournament he scored 24 goals and was elected to the All Star Team. He has played 79 games so far in which he scored 152 goals.

He could not compete for Germany at the European Handball Championship 2020. Shortly before the European Championships, he underwent an operation on his shoulder.
