Marian Michalczik (born February 1, 1997 in Beckum ) is a German handball player .

The 1.98 m tall right-handed player plays for Füchse Berlin and is mainly used as a left backcourt player.

Career

society

Michalczik started playing handball at Ahlener SG in 2002 and went through all youth teams there up to B-youth. Due to a special permit from the association, he played in the first team in the major league at the age of 16 . In the summer of 2014 he then moved to GWD Minden , initially playing for the A-youth in the Bundesliga and for the second team in the third division . From the 2015/16 season Michalczik was also an integral part of the 1st team and celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga in the same year. For the 2019/20 season he took over the office of team captain . He has been playing for Füchse Berlin since the 2020/21 season .

National team

Michalczik completed 18 youth and 20 junior internationals for the DHB . He won silver with the U-20 juniors at the 2016 European Championships in Denmark .

He made his debut for the men's national team on June 18, 2017 in the European Championship qualifier against Switzerland . His first goal for the national team was scored on January 7, 2018 in his second international match, a friendly against Iceland . For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed to the 20-man squad by national coach Christian Prokop , who did the preparation. He then did not make it into the squad that traveled to the EM. He has played 20 games so far, in which he scored 22 goals.

Private

Michalczik's family is closely connected to the sport of handball. Mother Martina has the B license, is the base manager of the handball association Westphalia and youth trainer in Ahlen. His older brother Marvin (* 1995) played in the 3rd division for Ahlener SG until 2018, his younger sister Malina Marie (* 2001) was U-17 European champion in 2017 and German A-Juniors champion with Borussia Dortmund in 2019 .
