Jakov Gojun (born April 18, 1986 in Split , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian handball player and member of the Croatian national handball team . He plays in the left back position . He currently plays for the German club Füchse Berlin .
Career
His first stop was the RK Split , where he had no chance to prove himself or to be used, so that he switched to the Rijeker Club Zamet via Krilnika and Solin at the age of 18. There he confirmed his class as a young handball player. Through his good games in Zamet, the RK Sisica became aware of him. There again Slavko Goluža , assistant coach of the Croatian national team and assistant to Lino Červar , so that he was appointed to the Croatian national team. At the 2010 European Championship , Gojun won the silver medal with Croatia. He was also voted the best defender. In the summer of 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London , where he won the bronze medal. He then ran for the Spanish club Atlético Madrid . After Madrid got into financial difficulties in the summer of 2013, he joined the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain , with whom he won the French Cup in 2014 and 2015 and the French championship in 2015. In the summer of 2015 Gojun moved to the German Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin , with whom he became club world champion in 2015 and 2016 and won the EHF Cup in 2018. In 2016 he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . After the 2018 European Championship , where Gojun played 168 international matches and scored 80 goals, Gojun resigned from the Croatian national team. He stated that he would only play for the national team again if necessary.
