biography

Andreas Gerth grew up in Leipzig and Rostock and in 1976 moved from the GDR to the Federal Republic. From 1987–92 he studied sculpture and fine art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Eduardo Paolozzi . In 1992 he joined the Weilheim music scene and founded the band Ogonjok. His interest in electronic sound generation and dub led to the founding of the Tied & Tickled Trio in 1996 with Markus and Micha Acher ( The Notwist ), the saxophonist Johannes Enders and the drummer Christoph Brandner . Andreas Gerth embodies the electronic side, which contrasts the orientation of the band on jazz of the 60s and 70s. From 1996 solo releases, remixes and productions followed for the radio play and media art department of the Bavarian Broadcasting under the name "loopspool". Gerth also worked with various musicians and artists. These include a. Ted Milton ( Blurt ), with whom he played in a Dub Elektronic / Spoken Word Duo from 1999–2002, the radio play author Andreas Ammer , for whose “Speech Opera for Karl Valentin ” he recorded the electronics, and Martin Gretschmann ( Console ) with whom he played several Electronic pieces published or the musician Sam Shackleton , with whom he composed the introductory piece "part 1" for the album "Music for the Quiet Hour". Since 2013 Andreas Gerth has been publishing music for modular systems, among others in the Driftmachine project , together with the musician Florian Zimmer (Saroos). His interest in self-generating patches was first shown in the sound installation “Äther Akustik” (2014/15) and on the album “Eis Heauton” (2015). In 2016 he and Martin Gretschmann built the golden composition machine as a sound-generating modular system for the interactive radio play " Infinite Game ", based on David Foster Wallace 's novel " Infinite Fun " in collaboration with Andreas Ammer and the WDR .
