Andreas Magdanz (born August 9, 1963 in Mönchengladbach ) is a contemporary photographer . His photographic works include the building monographs in Stammheim (2012), Camp Vogelsang (2010), BND location Pullach (2005), or the work on the former secret government bunker of the Federal Republic of Germany , the so-called Marienthal office . His work is exhibited on Broadway in New York , among others . His photographs of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp for the film of the same name have been published in book form.

Life

Andreas Magdanz graduated from high school in Rheydt in 1984 . In 1987 and 1988 he studied visual communication in Mainz. Then, from 1988, Magdanz continued his studies in Aachen with a focus on photography with Wilhelm Schürmann and graduated in 1991. Between 1994 and 1997 he had a teaching position for photography at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences in Faculty 4, Photography. From 2008 onwards, Magdanz held a teaching position for artistic photography at the RWTH Aachen University at the chair for visual design. For the winter semester 2014/2015 he is teaching at the University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim .
