Andreas Schumann (actor)

Andreas Schumann , later Andreas Mach (* 1957 ) is a German actor , theater director and acting lecturer.

Life

Training and beginnings

Schumann graduated from the Berlin drama school "Ernst Busch" in Berlin-Niederschöneweide from 1978 to 1981 . During his training he also gained his first stage experience at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Maxim-Gorki-Theater . In 1981 he was a 3rd year student there and played the title role in the play Take care of Malachow in the Palast-Jugendtreff (in coproduction with the Deutsches Theater ) under the direction of Erhard Marggraf "defiant, pamphless, disturbed, today, perhaps incorrigible" by Valery Agranovsky .

After his training, Schumann was then, probably in the 1981/82 season, coming directly from the drama school, to the Cottbus Theater , where the director Wolfgang Fleischmann , who had become senior director at the Cottbus Theater, brought him with him as a new member of the ensemble when he began his engagement. From 1981 to 1983 Schumann was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Cottbus Theater. He then worked as a freelance actor in the GDR until 1986 in film, television, theater and radio. In 1986 he went to the Landestheater Parchim as an actor and director , where he created his first own production at the theater.

Film and television in the GDR

Schumann worked in the GDR from the beginning to the middle of the 1980s in feature films , television films , television series and television fun games. He mainly worked for television in the GDR . In terms of type, Schumann was mainly used as a youthful lover, youthful hero, carefree sun boy , as a son and family member in several television fun games and as a modern youth of today.

In the TV series The Public Prosecutor has the floor , he had one of the leading roles in the episode Offside (first broadcast: 1981). He played the 22-year-old Okko, the head of a football club's fan club and leader of the fan clique. In the television film Robert in Berlin (1983) he played Kleister, the friend and best buddy of the male title character Robert ( Peter Welz ).

In the television comedy series three lovely sisters he played between 1984 and 1986 in three episodes of the Tassilo "Moppi" Persicke, the foster son of Olga button ( Marianne Kiefer ) and friend or fiancé of the daughter of Irmgard Schulze-button ( Ingeborg Krabbe ). In the episode An Old Frigate (first broadcast: 1986) he appeared at the beginning of Act 1 wearing only tight-fitting bathing trunks, so that his well-trained, sun-tanned body could be seen.

In 1985 he played again in the GDR television series The Public Prosecutor has the floor , this time in a supporting role as Knut, alongside Sven Martinek , Katrin Saß and Annekathrin Bürger . In the multi-part television series Der Sohn des Schützen (1985) , set in the Middle Ages , he took on the male lead alongside Reinhard Michalke and Otto Mellies . He played Peter, the son of the rifleman, who shoots the cruel and arrogant bailiff and, as a "bird-free" man, has numerous adventures in the fight against his pursuers. In 1984/1985 he played a supporting role in the DEFA children's film company Geigenkasten, which premiered in February 1985 . In Polizeiruf 110: I didn't mean that (first broadcast: December 1986) he played Wolfgang Curth, the son of the photographer Martha Curth ( Marion van de Kamp ). His film career in the GDR ended with his participation in the fairy tale film Der Bärenhäuter (1986), where he played the small role of Isbert, and the miniseries Bebel and Bismarck (1987).

Career in the west

In 1987 Schumann moved to the FRG, where he continued his career under the name of Andreas Mach. From 1988 to 1998 he had a permanent engagement as an actor at the Wiesbaden State Theater . After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he was also employed for many years as a director and actor at the Mainz State Theater . Since August 1998 he has been working as a freelance actor and director. He has now played over 50 roles in the theater and has directed over 30 productions. He regularly directs at the Salon Theater Taunusstein and plays in productions of the Mainzer Kammerspiele . In the 2013/14 season he staged Ingrid Lausund's charity drama at the Lüneburg Theater - Everyone saves an African . As a director for classroom plays, he also works for the Frankfurt theater .

He regularly took on TV roles, mainly in series that were shot and produced in the Rhine-Main area ( Die Drombuschs , Die Kommissarin , Ein Fall für Zwei and Der Staatsanwalt ).

Lecturer activity

Mach has been a lecturer at the Mainz Drama School since 1989, where he was headmaster from 1993 to 2016. Since 2003 he has held a teaching position for “role and diction” in the acting training department at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts .

Private

Mach is married and has one daughter. He lives in Wiesbaden .
