Andrej Karlin, Bishop of Trieste and Lavant

Andrej Karlin (born November 15, 1857 in Stara Loka near Škofja Loka ; † April 5, 1933 in Maribor ) was Bishop of Trieste and Lavant .

Andrej Karlin was born in Škofja Loka (Bischoflack). was on February 6, 1911 appointed bishop of the Diocese of Trieste-Koper and consecrated on March 19. From 1917 Karlin was also a member of the Austrian manor house . In 1918, after the collapse of the Austrian monarchy, the diocese was reorganized as the dioceses were adjusted to the state borders. The now Yugoslav part around the Slovenian coastal area with the city of Koper was connected to the Diocese of Ljubljana , the Italian part was renamed " Diocese of Trieste ". Due to the resistance of the Italian clergy against the Slovenian bishop, Karlin had to resign as a bishop of Trieste on December 15, 1919 and at the same time received the titular bishopric of Themiscyra .

On June 6, 1923 he was elected Bishop of Lavant and ruled this diocese, which at that time already had its seat in Maribor and from which the diocese of Maribor was to develop, for 10 years.

He was buried in Maribor Cathedral.
