Marjan Turnšek (born July 25, 1955 in Celje ) is a Slovenian clergyman and emeritus Archbishop of Maribor .

Life

The Bishop of Maribor , Franc Kramberger , ordained him a priest on June 28, 1981 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on April 7, 2006 Bishop of Murska Sobota . The Archbishop of Maribor, Franc Kramberger, donated him episcopal ordination on June 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Anton Stres CM , Bishop of Celje , and Jožef Smej , Auxiliary Bishop in Maribor.

As a motto he chose Bog je ljubezen . On November 28, 2009, the Pope appointed him Coadjutor Archbishop of Maribor. After Franc Kramberger's resignation , he succeeded him on February 3, 2011 as Archbishop of Maribor.

On July 31, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his resignation, which he had offered because of the dire financial situation of his archdiocese.
