Andrejs Ignatovičs (born March 24, 1971 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a former Latvian ice hockey player and current coach .
Career
Andrejs Ignatovičs began his career as a hockey player in his hometown near Pārdaugava Riga , for which he was active in the International Hockey League from 1992 to 1995 . The winger then moved to Denmark, where he was active for Hvidovre Ishockey in the AL-Bank Ligaen from 1995 to 1998 . For the 1998/99 season he signed a contract with the Finnish second division club Hermes Kokkola . After spending the 1999/2000 season at Olofströms IK in Swedish Division 1, he returned to Denmark for another year, where he played for the Odense Bulldogs .
For the 2001/02 season Ignatovičs was committed by the reigning Swedish champions Djurgårdens IF . For the capital club he scored three goals and three assists in a total of 48 games in his only season in the Elitserien . In the following two years, the former Latvian international played in Sweden for one season each for his ex-club Olofström IK in fourth-class Division 2 and the second division IFK Arboga in HockeyAllsvenskan . From 2004 to 2007 the Latvian played in his hometown for HK Riga 2000 , with which he won the Latvian championship title in 2005 and 2007 . From 2004 to 2006 he also played for HK Riga 2000 in the Belarusian Extraliga and reached second place in the IIHF Continental Cup at European level in the 2005/06 season behind Russian representative HK Lada Tolyatti .
From 2007 to 2009 Ignatovičs was on the ice for ASK / Ogre for one year each in the Latvian ice hockey league and the Belarusian extra league. In the 2009/10 season he played with his compatriot Aleksandrs Kerčs for Brest Albatros Hockey in Division 1 , the second French division. He then joined the Polish second division club KS Toruń . When he missed the qualification for the Ekstraliga , he moved to Titan Klin from the Pervaya League , the third Russian division, in September 2010 . At the end of the season he ended his career there. He has been assistant coach at SK Riga 17 since the 2011/12 season.
International
For Latvia Ignatovičs took part in the C World Championships in 1993 and the B World Championships in 1994 , 1995 and 1996 . He was also in his country's squad at the A World Championships in 1997 , 1998 and 1999 . His most successful tournament for him personally was the B-WM 1994, where he provided the most assists and was voted best striker. He was also appointed to the tournament's all-star team.
