Andrew Ranger (born November 20, 1986 in Roxton Pond , Québec ) is a Canadian racing car driver . He started in the Champ Car World Series in 2005 and 2006 . From 2007 to 2011 he was active in various NASCAR racing series. During this time he won the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship twice (2007 and 2009) .

Career

Ranger began his motorsport career in karting in 1998 , where he remained active until 2002. 2003 joined Ranger in the single-seater racing and was an instant champion of the North American Formula Renault . He won five of thirteen races in the season and was on the podium a total of nine times. He also took part in two British Formula Renault races. In 2004, Ranger went to Sierra Sierra Racing in the Atlantic Championshipat the start. In his debut race in this championship, he finished second on the podium. During the season he achieved a total of six podium finishes from twelve races. He was denied a victory. Ranger didn't finish within the top five pilots in just three races. At the end of the season he was fourth in the championship with 257 points. His team mate Ryan Dalziel was runner-up with 309 points.

In only his third season in formula racing, Ranger moved to the Champ Car World Series at the age of 18 in 2005 . He was given a cockpit at Mi-Jack Conquest Racing and became a teammate of Nelson Philippe . In his second race in Monterrey , which he started from 14th position, he achieved his first podium finish in second. This made him the youngest driver to have achieved a podium in the CART / Champ Car series. He was also the first driver after Nigel Mansell in 1993 to achieve a podium finish in the first two races. As the season progressed, Ranger achieved five more placements among the top ten pilots. As the second-best rookie behind Timo Glock , he finished his debut season in tenth place. His teammate Philippe was 13th. During the season, Ranger was associated with the Formula 1 Midland team . However, there was no engagement. In 2006 Ranger stayed with Conquest Racing in the Champ Car World Series and got a new teammate in Charles Zwolsman junior . Ranger finished 10 out of 14 races within the top 10 and fifth was his best result. At the end of the season he was again on the tenth championship place and he also won the team-internal duel again with 200 to 162 points. After the season, Ranger left the Champ Cars and formula racing because he no longer wanted to raise the financial resources necessary for the Champ Car series.

After Ranger had already taken part in a CASCAR Super Series race in 2006 , he started in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2007 , the successor series that was created by the takeover of CASCAR by NASCAR . Ranger won a race and became the first overall winner of this racing series. In 2008 , Ranger stayed in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He won two races and was fourth at the end of the season. He also made his debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and participated in five races. Outside of NASCAR, Ranger took part in a race in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series in 2008 .

In 2009 Ranger became a NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion for the second time. He won 6 out of 13 races. He also took part in a Nationwide Series race in Montreal . He was third. In 2010 Ranger was not consistently active in any racing series. He started in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West , the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He won one race in each of the K&N Pro series and won three races out of five starts in the Canadian racing series. He also took part in a Nationwide race. In 2011 Ranger started in five NASCAR racing series and made his debut in the Sprint Cup , where he competed in one race. In the Canadian Tire Series, he won two out of four races in which he participated. In the Nationwide Series, sixth place was his best result. In addition, he completed three races in the ARCA Racing Series , where he also won a race.
