Andrian Semjonowitsch Masaraki

Andrian Semjonowitsch Masaraki ( Russian Андриан Семенович Мазараки ; born August 18 . Jul / 30th August  1835 greg. In Voronezh , † 4. January 1906 in Nice ) was a Russian officer, pianist and patron .

Life

Masaraki came from an old, wealthy aristocratic family of Polish origin. He was the son of the artillery lieutenant general and arms manufacturer Semyon Semjonowitsch Masaraki and the grandson of the State Council and publicist Ilya Nikolayevich Debolzew . Masaraki was in the 1850 Page Corps added. In 1953 he was promoted to chamber page and in 1854 to Praporschtschik in the Semyonovskoye bodyguard regiment. During the Crimean War , in 1854 and 1855, he was one of the troops who had to protect the coasts of St. Petersburg .

In 1858 Masaraki took his leave as Porutschik and entered civil service as titular advisor for special tasks in the offices of the Caucasus Committee and the Siberia Committee. In 1864 he left the service.

Masaraki was known as a pianist . In Voronezh he founded the Voronezh department of the Imperial Russian Music Society in 1868 and was a member of its board of directors until 1872. In 1869 he set up a freely accessible music school there. He performed in concerts as a pianist and violinist . He was friends with Anton and Nikolai Rubinstein .

Masaraki left Voronezh to settle at his country estate in Khvorostjanka near Dobrinka (Lipetsk) . The music society in Voronezh, which he had supported until then, disbanded because of the lack of funds. In Khvorostjanka he took over the post of honorary peace judge. He looked after his farmers, helped them with famine and provided medical aid during the cholera epidemic. His granddaughter Nadezhda grew up with him and trained her to play the piano, preparing her for studies at the Moscow Conservatory .

Masasraki was buried on the Cimetière russe de Caucade in Nice .
