Andrzej Antoni Radomski (born November 30, 1961 in Koszalin ) is a former Polish wrestler.

Career

Andrzej Radomski grew up in his native city of Koszalin on and started playing sports club "Budowlani Koszalin" in 1972 with the rings . Later, when his great talent for this sport became apparent, he was delegated to WKS Grunwald Poznań . There the coaches Marian Kobierski and Zygmunt Kret led him into the Polish elite of freestyle wrestlers. After he was accepted into the Polish national team, the coaches Eugeniusz Najmark and Leszik Ciota were responsible for him. In 1986 he was the first Polish middleweight champion. He made his debut at international championships in 1987 with an excellent 4th place at the World Championships in Clermont-Ferrand . In the battle for the bronze medal he was defeated by the 1986 world champion Vladimir Modossyan from the USSR just on points.

In 1988 and 1989 he again achieved excellent placings at the European Championships and the 1989 World Championships. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , he had drawn his very difficult group and was eliminated after defeat by Reiner Trik from Germany , Alexandar Nanew from Bulgaria and Mark Schultz from the USA early. At the European Championships in 1989 he fought for 5th place with a 6-2 point win over the German champion Gerhard Weber .

At the European Championships in Poznan in 1990 , Andrzej achieved the greatest success of his career. He became vice European champion. In the final he was defeated by Arawat Sabejew from the Soviet Union, however, clearly on points. At the World Cup in Tokyo that same year , he ended up in the thankless fourth place after a defeat against the American Kirk Trost .

Also in 1991 he placed himself at the front of the field again at both the European and World Championships. Finally, at the end of his international wrestling career at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​he managed to get a good 5th place in the heavyweight division.
