Andy Gibb
Andy Gibb (born March 5, 1958 as Andrew Roy Gibb in Manchester , England , † March 10, 1988 in Oxford , England) was a British - Australian singer .
Life
Andy Gibb was born to Hugh and Barbara Gibb. His mother was a singer, while the father led a small orchestra. His older brothers Barry , Robin, and Maurice Gibb came to be known as the Bee Gees .
In 1979 Andy Gibb had an appearance with the Bee Gees ( Spirits Having Flown Tour ), but he was never a member of the group himself. Instead, he enjoyed great success as a solo singer. He had his first number one hit in the US in 1977 with the title I Just Want to Be Your Everything, written by his brother Barry . Between May 1977 and April 1978 he made it to the top of the US charts with a total of three songs . He was also in 1978 as a guest vocalist on the album Thoroughfare Gap by Stephen Stills to hear.
In the following years he had further musical success and came into the media with his relationship with actress Victoria Principal . The two separated in the mid-1980s, and Gibb, now a drug addict, was admitted to the Betty Ford Clinic .
Gibb signed a new contract with the record company Island Records in early 1988 . However, the planned recordings for his new record never came because he was hospitalized at the beginning of March 1988, where he died on March 10, 1988, five days after his 30th birthday, of complications from myocarditis . He was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood .
family
Before Gibb left Australia, he married his girlfriend, Kim Reeder. When their daughter, Peta Jaye, was born on January 25, 1978, Gibb was already separated from his wife and divorced her later that year. Gibb met his daughter only once, in 1981. His daughter, Peta J. Reeder-Gibb, breeds Staffordshire Bull Terriers and is a recognized judge at dog shows in New South Wales , Australia .
