Angelika Rochhausen

Angelika Rochhausen (born September 12, 1942 in Neukirchen / Pleiße ; † February 18, 2017 in Leipzig ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Angelika Rochhausen grew up in Leipzig and studied art education and German studies at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig from 1960 to 1964 . Her then academic teacher for art history , Hans Schulze , became Rochhausen's artistic mentor. He introduced her to the use of the egg tempera mixing technique, which would become her preferred painting technique.

In addition to her artistic work, she worked as an art teacher at various Leipzig schools from 1964 to 1979. In this role, Angelika Rochhausen came into conflict with the GDR ideology than they for Teacher's Day to set 1973: "teach love, teach recognize love, teach you how to be happy - is self-esteem teach is human dignity teach" to which Wall of a classroom wrote. Politically motivated admissions to psychiatry and the disqualification from working were the consequences.

Since 1981 she has lived with her three children as a freelance artist in Leipzig. Her youngest son is the painter Johannes Rochhausen .

The artist's urn grave is located in the Leipzig- Plagwitz cemetery .
