Animal Welfare Party (AWP, German: Tierschutzpartei) is a British small party . She is mainly committed to animal welfare , animal rights and environmental policy .
The party is mainly active in London and Wales . According to its own information, the party has more than 100 members and more than 14,000 followers.
history
The party was founded in December 2006 under the name Animals Count by Shaun Rutherford and the Dutch woman Jasmijn de Boo. The current name was adopted in 2013. The model of the party is the Dutch Partij voor de Dieren , for which de Boo stood in the 2004 European elections .
Program
The party is calling, among other things, for general animal health insurance modeled on the National Health Service . In addition, more green spaces and parks are required, which are to be connected by “ green corridors ”.

Animals Count first competed in the 2008 London Assembly election . In the constituency of Lambeth and Southwark , it won 1.1% of the vote. In the European elections in 2009 she ran with a list in the electoral area East of England and received 0.8% of the vote. In the 2010 general election , Richard Deboo ran for the party in the London constituency of Islington South and Finsbury, gaining 0.3% of the vote.
