Anita Horvat (born September 7, 1996 ) is a Slovenian athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Anita Horvat gained her first international experience in 2014 at the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she was eliminated from the preliminary round with the Slovenian 4 x 400 meter relay with 3: 42.91 min. In 2015 she took part in the Junior European Championships in Eskilstuna and was eliminated there with 56.36 s in the first round over 400 meters and with 62.08 s over 400 m hurdles. With the Slovenian relay she finished eighth in the final in 3: 46.30 minutes. In 2017 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she was eliminated in the first round with 54.65 seconds. She then took part in the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she finished fourth with 53.06 s. She also qualified for the World Championships in London and was eliminated there with 52.78 s in the preliminary round .

In 2018 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and was eliminated there with 53.52 s in the first round. In August she took part in the European Championships in Berlin and was eliminated there with 51.89 s in the semi-finals. Also at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow the following year, she made it to the semifinals, in which she was eliminated with 53.37 s. At the European Games in Minsk she started with the mixed relay and finished eleventh there in 3: 20.66 minutes. In addition, she qualified again over 400 meters for the World Championships in Doha and was eliminated there with 52.73 s in the lead , as well as afterwards at the Military World Games in Wuhan with 55.51 s.

In 2015 Horvat became the Slovenian champion in the 400 meter hurdles , in 2016 over 400 meters and with the 4 x 100 meter relay, 2017 over 100 and 200 meters, 2018 over 200 and 400 meters and in 2019 again over 400 meters and 2020 over 400 meters as well as in the relay. In addition, she became indoor champion over 400 meters in 2016 and 2017 and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 2020.
