Anke Caroline Burger

Anke Caroline Burger (also: Anke Burger , * 1964 in Darmstadt ) is a German translator .

Life

Anke Caroline Burger studied American , German and Journalism at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Texas in Austin , from which she graduated in 1994 with a master's degree. She has been working as a translator from English since 1992. Until 2002 she lived in San Francisco , California , and since then she has lived in Berlin and Montreal with her husband, the artist Chris Salter .

In addition to narrative literature, she translates non-fiction books from the fields of popular culture and photography .

Anke Caroline Burger is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ, for which she works on a voluntary basis in the editorial department of the trade journal Translate , for the sections "Portraits and Reviews".

In 2003, Burger was awarded the Christoph Martin Wieland Translator Prize.
