Anna Juliane Bochkoltz (also Bochkoltz-Falconi ) (born March 11, 1815 in Trier ; died December 24, 1879 in Paris) was a German soprano , opera singer , chamber singer and composer .

Life

Her parents were the lawyer Johnann Friedrich Joseph Bockholtz and Barbara Bochkoltz, b. Angry.

On August 26, 1824, her parents were godparents of Karl Marx's siblings . Anna Bochkoltz was nicknamed Nanny.

From 1831 to 1833 she gave drawing lessons at her mother's private school. Her first singing teacher is said to have been Stephan Dunst (died in Trier in 1838). Anna Bochkoltz also had contact with Jenny von Westphalen , who later became the wife of Karl Marx .

In 1843 she gave her first concert in Trier. In 1844 she studied at the Conservatory in Brussels and in 1845 in Paris. A year later she became "Membre Solo de la Sociètè du Conservatoire de Paris".

She has made guest appearances as a concert singer in Paris, London, Berlin and also in Trier. In the 1850s she made guest appearances on the opera stages in Wiesbaden , Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Coburg .

Anna Bochkoltz-Falconi

From 1856 to 1873 she lived in Vienna and gave singing lessons there. Students were Ottilie Ebner (1836–1920), Wilhelmine Raab (1848–1917), Ida Benza (1846–1889) and Hermann Rosenberg (1849–1911). In the last years of her life she lived in Strasbourg and Paris. There she died unmarried on December 24, 1879.
