Anna Elisabeth Angermann

Anna Elisabeth Angermann (born August 5, 1883 in Bautzen , † February 26, 1985 in Dresden ) was a German painter.

Life

After the death of the father - he was a district judge - the mother moved to Dresden with two daughters in 1884. Anna Elisabeth Angermann attended the women's vocational school in Dresden-Friedrichstadt , received drawing lessons from Anton Josef Pepino and Oskar Popp . From 1903 she studied at the art school in Weimar . Teachers were u. a. Max Thedy , Hans Olde and Sascha Schneider . In 1906 she settled as a freelance artist in Dresden-Loschwitz . Her artistic style is attributed to the " Dresden colorism ". From 1913 to 1915 she had a studio in the Künstlerhaus Dresden-Loschwitz . She was part of the Otto Gussmann team . During a study trip (1912) to Rügen he got to know Karl Hagemeister . Along with Anna Plate , Johanna Katharina Krabbes, Hildegard von Mach and Irmgard Meinhold, she belonged to the Loschwitz district and was a member of the local association of Dresden women artists .

Until 1933 she was a member of the Dresden Artists Association, from 1945 a member of the art union and from 1951 a member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) of the GDR. She had a longstanding friendship with Albert Wigand and Elisabeth Ahnert .

Her works are in the Museum Bautzen , in the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden , in the Städtische Galerie Dresden as well as in private ownership. A memorial plaque was attached to her home at Pillnitzer Landstrasse 116. Since 1996 there has been an Anna-Angermann-Strasse in Dresden-Loschwitz. Her grave is in the Loschwitz cemetery .
