Anne-Sophie Barthet (born February 23, 1988 in Toulouse ) is a former French ski racer . She specialized in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Barthet contested her first FIS race in November 2003, the first races in the European Cup followed in December 2004. Her best result so far is a second place in the downhill from St. Moritz on January 18, 2007. In the 2006 / 07 fourth place in the downhill classification. In 2006 and 2007 she took part in the Junior World Championships and was able to achieve eighth place in the downhill both times.

Barthet made her debut in the World Cup on October 22, 2005 in the giant slalom in Sölden . Two months later, she finished 26th in the Aspen slalom and won World Cup points for the first time. On December 26, 2006 she achieved her best result for the time being with 12th place in the slalom in Semmering . Barthet took part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin : in slalom, she finished 34th, but she couldn't finish the combination. At her first participation in the World Championship in Åre in 2007 , she was able to achieve 5th place with the team and was 19th in slalom and 22nd in the super combination.

In the World Cup downhill run on December 8, 2007 in Aspen, which was characterized by snowfall and poor visibility, Barthet fell badly and suffered a dislocation of the kneecap and torn ligaments in his right knee. The French rider started with starting number 37, after her fall the race was stopped. Before that, the Austrian Alexandra Meissnitzer had had a hard fall. The 2007/08 season was over because of the injury for Barthet, in the following season she could not score in any World Cup races. In contrast, she won the silver medal in giant slalom at the 2009 Winter Universiade in Harbin .

On November 28, 2009, Barthet took eleventh place in the giant slalom in Aspen, her first World Cup points in over two years and her best result in the World Cup to date. One day later, she was able to improve again with sixth place in the Aspen slalom and thus achieved her first top 10 placement. On January 11, 2011, she finished ninth in the Flachau slalom for a second time, making it into the top ten. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she was 26th in slalom. She achieved better results at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where she was 14th in slalom and 19th in giant slalom. In the 2011/12 season Barthet remained without a top 10 result, but she was able to score more consistently than in previous years.

In the following years, Barthet regularly placed in the ranks between 10 and 30, but was rarely able to make it into the top ten. Her most successful season to date was the 2015/16 season with four top 10 results. On February 28, 2016, she achieved the best result of her career so far when she surprisingly finished third in the combination of Soldeu .

In May 2019, Barthet announced her retirement from top-class sport.
