Anne Haney
Anne Ryan Haney , née Anne Ryan Thomas (born March 4, 1934 in Memphis ; † May 26, 2001 in Studio City , Los Angeles ) was an American actress , who by the role of social worker Mrs. Sellner in the movie Mrs. Doubtfire - The prickly nanny became known.
Life
Haney was on March 4, 1934 Memphis as Anne Ryan Thomas born. She attended the University of North Carolina and studied drama and later radio and television. There she met her future husband, John Haney. Haney briefly worked for a TV station in Memphis.
The couple moved to Atlanta and raised their daughter there. In the 1970s, Haney began getting active in local theater and advertising. In Atlanta she became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of TV and Radio Artists .
Her career in film and television did not begin until she was in her mid-forties in the late 1970s. The first role, as Mrs. Benn, she completed in 1978 in the television film Mein deutscher Soldat . In the 1980s she appeared primarily in TV series and films, but also in cinema productions. The television series included Quincy , Cheers , Agent with Heart, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. West phall . Haney was in the Starship Enterprise: The Next Century episode, "The Survivors of Rana 4" as Rishon Uxbridge and later as the Bajoran judge in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Dax Case". She was a regular guest star on Mama's Family , where she played Alberta Metchum, opponent of Thelma Harper, as well as in The Golden Girls , Columbo and Boy Meets World .
She worked as an actress until the end. In the final years of her life, she starred in Dharma & Greg , Providence , The Geena Davis Show and Ally McBeal . Haney died of heart failure on May 26, 2001 at the age of 67 .
Haney was married to John Haney. He died in 1980. They had a daughter together.
