history
The three founding members, from whose family name the band name is composed, got to know each other during their school days at the Schiller-Gymnasium in Cologne-Sülz and then founded the band. At first there were three of them on the road as a street musician in Cologne, but bassist Lars Lötgering joined them at a jam session on the Uniwiese in Cologne. In 2013 she released her first self-recorded album, which was presented at a release party in Building 9 in Cologne. The album was self-directed and was partly recorded during performances on the street. The album is now out of print. AnnenMayKantereit published her songs mainly on her own YouTube channel. Malte Huck has been the band's bassist since August 2014 . The trumpeter Ferdinand Schwarz has accompanied the band on their tours since 2014.
After the video for the song Wohin du Gehst was published, a Germany-wide club tour followed. In summer 2014 the band played at several major festivals, including the Appletree Garden Festival , the Open Flair and the Reeperbahn Festival . In the fall of that year, they played several concerts as opening act of Beatsteaks and accompanied the outskirts Lights Tour of Clueso as the opening act. In 2014 they were among the finalists at the New Music Award of the ARD youth programs.
AnnenMayKantereit appeared with the song Frequently Asked in December 2014 on the television program Circus HalliGalli , followed by another club tour in early 2015. In the summer of 2015 there were other festival appearances, including at the Haldern Pop Festival and Rock am Ring . The singer Henning May had a guest appearance on the album Hurra die Welt geht unter in the title track of the hip-hop group K.IZ.
In the fall of 2015, the band signed a record deal with Universal . Together with Moses Schneider , they recorded the EP Will Already Somehow Go in the Hansa Studios in Berlin, which was released in October 2015 on the Vertigo Berlin label. In February 2016, the single Pocahontas from the album Alles nix Konkretes was released, which was released in March 2016 by Universal. The band played numerous open air concerts during the festival summer 2016, including at the Hurricane Festival and the Highfield Festival . In autumn 2016 the band released a live recording of a concert in Berlin (AnnenMayKantereit & Freunde - Live in Berlin) .

In January 2019, BMG announced that the band had signed an exclusive publishing contract with them. At the end of January 2019, after a one-year break, the band started a new tour, between May and August they performed at various festivals in German-speaking countries. In September 2019 they released the song Ozean , which they had already played during their tour. Due to the corona pandemic , the band had to cancel all concerts planned for 2020 from March 2020.
