Anton Ehrlich
Anton Ehrlich (born June 10, 1814 in Wiesent , † March 27, 1881 in Straubing ) was a German organ builder .
life and work
Anton Ehrlich was a member of the extensive organ building family Ehrlich and was born as the eldest son of Adam Ehrlich the Elder. Ä. (* around 1777; † December 30, 1848) born. His brother was Johann Ehrlich . When his father's company moved to Passau , he first learned the trade of organ building from his father and later also learned the carpentry trade from his uncle Markus Ehrlich in Massing . After taking the exam in Landshut , he was granted citizenship and the organ builder's license in Straubing in 1841. He lived in the house no. 772 1 / 2 , and married in 1846 Franziska Reiter, a school teacher widow from Süßkofen . He built numerous organs with mechanical action in Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate . He successfully defended himself against emerging competition and thus dominated the Lower Bavarian organ market with his relatives. His successor was Matthias Braumandl (1829–1906). Many of his works are no longer preserved.
