Anton Kolmayr

Anton Kolmayr (born August 11, 1899 in Leoben , † March 31, 1975 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician .

Life

Born the son of a leather manufacturer, Kolmayr went to the secondary school in Leoben. There he became a member of the pennal conservative fraternity of Gothia . After visiting the Marieninstitut in Graz , he took part in the First World War as a one-year volunteer from 1917 , where he was wounded and came home as an ensign . From 1919 he trained as a master tanner in the family business and went as Gerber on wandering through northern Germany , South Tyrol , Tyrol and Upper Austria . He studied history in Graz. During his studies in 1928 he became a member of the Allemannia Graz fraternity . In 1932 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD .

He took over the family business. He became a guild master of the Styrian leather guild . From 1935 to 1938 he was mayor of Leoben. After the annexation of Austria he resigned. During World War II he served as a captain in the artillery , mainly as a battery leader in Norway . He became a prisoner of war . In 1945 he returned to his homeland, worked again in the family business and was involved in professional politics . From 1947 to 1965 he was the Styrian regional guild master for the leather trade, furriers , glove makers and tanners. He was also chairman of the Leoben district office of the Chamber of Commerce for Styria . From 1947 he was also chairman of the master craftsman's examination commission for the red tanner and the white and chamois tannery trade. In 1965 he was appointed to the Commercial Council.
