Antonio Cascais

Antonio Cascais (* 1965 in Estarreja , Aveiro District , Portugal ) is a Portuguese journalist who works as a freelance writer for television, radio, print and online media in Germany and other European countries. In addition to his focus on Portugal and the lusophone countries Angola , Mozambique , Cape Verde , Guinea-Bissau , Sao Tomé and Príncipe and Brazil , other focuses are investigative journalism , business journalism , cultural journalism and journalism on migration and development issues.

Life

Cascais studied journalism and history at the University of Dortmund . He has been working primarily as a television journalist in Germany since the 1980s.

The magazines he contributed to included Monitor , Panorama , Plusminus , ARD-Europamagazin, Cosmo TV and many others.

Cascais regularly writes articles for specialist magazines, daily and weekly newspapers, primarily in Germany, Portugal and Switzerland , most recently for “ Die Zeit ”. Cascais works for Deutsche Welle as a reporter in the lusophone countries as well as for the training of journalists in Angola and other countries in Africa and Latin America . Cascais has also made its own documentaries time and again, most recently about a weapons deal between the Schröder government and the Barroso government .

As a valued expert on Portugal and the lusophone countries, Cascais is invited as an expert and studio guest to radio and TV programs, e.g. B. for Planet Knowledge - Portugal. In 2004, he coordinated and presented ARD's reporting on “Country and People” as part of the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal . He also spoke the pre-trailer with the foreign language for the show with the mouse - in this case Portuguese. He lent his voice to a Langenscheidt language course for Portuguese. At the same time, Cascais is one of the most famous Portuguese operating in Germany.

In addition to his native and working languages, Antonio Cascais speaks Portuguese and German as well as fluent English, French, Spanish and Italian. Cascais lives in Cologne , Brussels and Lisbon , sometimes also in Luanda , Rio de Janeiro or Maputo .
