Antti Sakari Pihlström (born October 22, 1984 in Vantaa ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Jokerit Helsinki in the Continental Hockey League since October 2016 .
Career
Antti Pihlström began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Jokerit Helsinki , where he was active until 2002. He then moved to the A-Juniors of the Espoo Blues , for whose professional team he played in the SM-liiga from 2003 to 2005 . He then stood on the ice for one season each for their league rivals SaiPa Lappeenranta and HPK Hämeenlinna . After four years in Finland's highest ice hockey league, Pihlström was signed to the Nashville Predators as a free agent on June 1, 2007 .
In his first season in North America, the attacker scored 45 points in 78 games, including 27 goals, for Nashville's farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League . He also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Predators. After Pihlström began the 2008/09 season in the AHL, he was ordered into the NHL team Nashville during the season and scored two goals and five assists in 53 games. For the 2009/10 season , the Finn moved to the reigning Swedish champions Färjestad BK from the Elitserien . In January 2010 he returned to his Finnish homeland and joined JYP Jyväskylä from the SM-liiga, for which he has played since then. In November 2011 he was obliged by Salawat Julajew Ufa from the Continental Hockey League and was always one of the most consistent point collectors.
In September 2015 he took part in the Columbus Blue Jackets training camp , but received no contract and returned to the KHL in October, this time to HK CSKA Moscow . In September 2016 he signed a monthly contract with Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A (NLA) and moved to Jokerit Helsinki in the Continental Hockey League after it ran out .
International
With the Finnish national team Pihlström took part in the ice hockey world championship in 2008 and was the top scorer in his country with five goals in nine games. He also contributed two assists to achieve third place. At the 2011 World Cup he was world champion with Finland. At the 2014 Olympic Games, he won the bronze medal with the Finnish national team.
