Iiro Pakarinen (born August 25, 1991 in Suonenjoki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Jokerit in the Continental Hockey League since May 2020 .
Career
Iiro Pakrinen began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of KalPa Kuopio , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2009/10 season . In his rookie year , the winger scored six goals in a total of 50 games and provided five assists. In the following season he was also an integral part of the KalPa professional team. At the same time, he made nine appearances from 2009 to 2011 as a loan player for the Finnish U20 national team in the Mestis , the second Finnish division. In the 2011 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the seventh round as the 184th player of the Florida Panthers .
Between 2012 and 2014 he was under contract with Helsingfors IFK and scored 30 points scorer in 60 games this season during the 2013/14 season. The Edmonton Oilers then gave him a three-year NHL entry contract. This was extended by one year in May 2017.
After four years in the Organization of the Oilers Pakarinen finally left North America and joined the HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from the Continental Hockey League (KHL). For Metallurg he scored 27 points scorer in 66 games this season and moved to Barys Nur-Sultan after the end of the 2018/19 season . After 27 games this season for Torpedo, the Finnish attacking player switched to Jokerit within the KHL in May 2020 .
International
For Finland Pakarinen took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in 2009 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 2010 and 2011 . At the U18 World Cup in 2009, he and his team won the bronze medal.
In 2014 he won the silver medal in the men's selection at the World Cup .
