April Discovered the Men is a 1959 American comedy film starring Sandra Dee and James Darren . The film is based on the novel Gidget, the Little Girl with Big Ideas by Friedrich Kohner from 1957, in which the latter processed the experiences of his daughter Kathy (Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman) in the surfing subculture on the beaches of Malibu .

action

Frances Lawrence, who is only called April by everyone, is a model student and is expecting her 17th birthday. On a trip to the beach in Santa Monica with their three best friends, they meet a group of surfers who are not interested in the flappers .

The surfer moonhound saves April from drowning. April decides to learn to surf too and buys a used surfboard from Stinky. At first she is only ridiculed by the thoroughly male beach clique, but with increasing skill on the surfboard she is increasingly recognized.

April begins to be interested in moon doggy, but he is disinterested. At a beach party, she plans to make moon pooch jealous. However, your plan does not work at first. It wasn't until she and Kahoona left the party early and drove with him to a remote beach house that Moonhound realized that he had more than just friendship for April.
