Ard Posthuma

Ard Posthuma (* 1942 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch literary translator .

Life

Ard Posthuma studied German , English and philosophy at the universities in Lausanne , Munich and Basel . He was a lecturer at the University of Basel and taught German at the NHL Hogeschool in Groningen .

Since 1989 he has been translating - mainly poetry - from Dutch and West Frisian into German and German-speaking authors into Dutch .

Posthuma spent a year in Berlin on a scholarship from the DAAD's Berlin Artists Program and three months in Calw on a Hermann Hesse scholarship from Calw .
