Athletic career
His football career began at BSG Motor WEMA / Aufbau Plauen . In 1983 he moved to the junior division of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt , where he initially moved up to the junior league team.
In the 1989/90 season , Arnd Spranger made his debut in the FCK league team after the start of the second half of the season . In his first appearance in the East German elite league on matchday 14, he also scored his premier goal to equalize in the meantime in a 3-1 home win against BSG Energie Cottbus . In the preliminary round of this season, as well as in 1988/89 , the offensive player was active in the second-highest division for a company sports association in the district capital , the BSG Motor "Fritz Heckert" Karl-Marx-Stadt .
With the Himmelblauen team , now trading as Chemnitzer FC , he achieved in the last independent season of East German football with a 5th place the direct qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga and its first all-German game year . At the turn of the year 1992/93 Spranger moved within Saxony from CFC , where he was no longer used in the preliminary round , to FSV Zwickau in the third-class amateur league . After a 5th place at the end of the 1992/93 season , the Zwickau were season winners in the following season and qualify for the second division via the promotion round in the summer of 1994 . After a narrowly prevented relegation in the first season, the Zwickauers achieved their best position to date after reunification the following year with a 5th place .
In the summer of 1996, Arnd Spranger joined the regional league team VFC Plauen , with whom he took part in the DFB Cup twice. After the missed qualification for the two-track regional league in the summer of 2000, he was in the fourth-class league for the Vogtländer on the ball until 2005. In the second half of the 2006/07 season Spranger played two games for the upper division VfB Auerbach .
