Art Baron (* 5. January 1950 in Bridgeport , Connecticut ) is an American jazz - trombone . He also plays the didgeridoo , alto and bass flute and tuba .

Live and act

Art Baron studied at Berklee College of Music . In August 1973, at the age of 23, he became a member of the Duke Ellington Band, the last year when Ellington was still in charge of the band. He directed a septet called The Duke's Men in the 1980s , consisting of former members of the Duke Ellington Band.

As part of the Charles Mingus project Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus , he worked with Bill Frisell , Greg Cohen , Don Alias and Don Byron in 1992 . Throughout his career, Baron has made records with Buddy Rich , Bruce Springsteen , Lou Reed , Stevie Wonder , James Taylor , Illinois Jacquet , Roswell Rudd , Mel Tormé , Charlie Musselwhite , Andy Harlow , Fontella Bass , Sam Rivers , Glen Velez , John Tchicai , Wilber Morris , Alan Silva , George Gruntz , Joey DeFrancesco , Bobby Watson , Elliott Sharp , Annea Lockwood , Matt Glaser and Cyro Baptista . Played with Gina Leishman in Kamikaze Ground Crew in the 1990s . Art Baron lives in New York City . He is not to be confused with the saxophonist and flautist Arthur Barron .
