Friedrich Moritz Arthur von Brietzke (born April 30, 1848 in Kemnitz , † February 22, 1930 ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Arthur was a son of the Prussian captain and lord of Kemnitz Hans Friedrich Moritz von Brietzke (1809-1869) and his wife Emilie, née Busch (1817-1853).

Military
career Brietzke joined the Guard Jäger Battalion of the Prussian Army on January 3, 1866 and took part in the war against Austria that same year . On July 30, 1866 he was promoted to ensign and on August 16 to secondary lieutenant. He took part in the war against France in 1870/71 . In the further course of his military career Brietzke was among other things from May 13, 1895 to November 24, 1898 commander of the Braunschweig Infantry Regiment No. 92 and then the 54th and 51st Infantry Brigade . From December 18, 1901 to April 17, 1903, he commanded the 2nd Division in Insterburg as Lieutenant General and was then put up for disposition .

During the First World War , Brietzke was first used as a lieutenant general, later as a general of the infantry z. D. again. He commanded the 4th Landwehr Division on the Eastern Front from December 14, 1915 to April 22, 1917 and was then Commanding General of the Landwehr Corps until March 1919 . In May 1918, he had received the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves and Swords for his achievements .

In the post-war period, Brietzke campaigned for the creation of a memorial for the Landwehr Corps, which was realized according to the designs of Hans Dammann and erected in front of the General Command in Breslau in 1929/30 .
