Atabae ( Atabai, Atalaia ) is a suco in the north of the East Timorese community of Bobonaro . The place Atabae is in the neighboring Suco Rairobo . The main town of the Atabae administrative office is Aidabaleten , which is often referred to as "Atabae".

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Atabae had an area of ​​44.94 km². Now there are 37.74 km². The Suco is located in the northeast of the administrative office of the same name. To the west lies the Suco Rairobo, to the southwest Aidabaleten and south of Hataz . Across the Nunura River lies the Cailaco administrative office with its Suco Purugua , in the northeast the Suco Aculau (administrative office Hatulia administrative office , municipality of Ermera ) and in the north the administrative office of Maubara ( Liquiçá municipality ) with its sucos Guiço and Gugleur .

The Hatoleai River rises in the southern border area between Rairobo and Atabae, flows south, then swings to the east and forms the entire southern border of Atabaes. Finally it flows into the Nunura. Where the sucos Atabae, Aculau and Purugua meet, Nunura and Marobo together form the river Lóis , which then flows further west along the northern border of Atabaes, with some arms extending into the area of ​​the sucos.

Most of the larger Sucos towns are close to Nunura. From south to north these are Koilima , Hatubou , Dirularan , Puemate ( Peumate ), Daarobu , Loumate , Lugu Teho , Aidabaracabe ( Aidabaraeabe ), Fatubesi ( Fatu Besi , Fatubessi , Faturesi ) and Nunudoi . The places partly merge directly into one another. The villages of Kakamata and Made Bau ( Madeboau , Madehoau ) are located at the confluence of the Nunura and Marobo rivers . On the Lóis are the places Oebola and Oekiar . Atumate is located at Hatoleai . In the south are the places Saburapo and Maleteten , in the north-west Malete . There are primary schools in Dirularan and Fatubesi. In Dirularan there is also a helicopter station for emergencies.

Atabae is divided into the five Aldeias Fatubesi , Helesu ( Hel-Lesu ), Lolocolo , Made Bau and Saburapo .

Residents

The Suco has 1679 inhabitants (2015), of which 871 are men and 808 women. The population density is 44.5 inhabitants / km². There are 302 households in the Suco. Over 85% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. 5% speak Tetum Prasa , while small minorities speak Mambai and Bunak .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Fortunato rice Cardoso elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Ernesto Gaspar .
