Athens is a city in Henderson County in the US state of Texas , United States and the seat of the county seat .
geography
The city is located northeast of the geographic center of Texas, each about 120 km from Louisiana , Arkansas and Oklahoma , also about 110 km southeast of Dallas . It has an area of 44 km², of which 6.1 km² are water.
